What you tolerate
Is an investment
May it compound into the life
That loves you best.©
$1 a day in an investment account compounds into roughly $5500 in ten years at 8% interest. And you weren’t even trying.
Water dripping into a 1-gallon bucket can fill it by the end of the day, depending on the speed of the drip or the trickle.
The airway lining of your lungs replaces itself every 6-12 months by sloughing off old cells and regenerating new ones.
What you tolerate is similar. It is an investment of your energetic currency. And it compounds. It is information you’re giving your state of being daily. It can even overflow beneath your awareness.
But some part of you knows and will tell you through your body (weight, fatigue, sleep disturbance, etc.), your mind (anxiety, tension, self-doubt, worry, etc.), your money (disorder, conflict, lack, hording, etc.), your relationships (disappointment, lack of support, avoidance, etc.) or somewhere in your existence.
Tolerance can be a good thing. To endure, for example, in something meaningful to you. But it is one of those words I tend to replace whenever I can with something closer to the mark of my meaning. Because tolerance is most closely related to putting up with something.
Accept for a leaky faucet until I can get it repaired, there’s not much I care to put up with. I’d rather translate it into another perspective, action or energy that is an intentional investment in my overall wellbeing and better world.
That could mean communicating, changing my schedule, saying no or yes, going somewhere new, hiring someone, letting go of someone, shifting a pattern within myself to see it completely differently or all of the above.
Eliminating what you are tolerating liberates that energy from investments you don’t want into ones you do.
It pays to be attentive to the subtleties. Literally. Energy leaks. Tension-holds. Tired. Avoidance. Flat. Neutrality. Lack. Or Elevation. Peace. Elation. Hell, yes and More please.
All of your investments show up in your body, mind, spirit, money, relationships, and business in some way. What do you want to carry around with you?
For example, giving your body new energetic information (transformation in consciousness), nutrition and movement to inform the new cells your body is generating is the opportunity to replace your old body with a new one continually.
We can invest in something that is really hard and it still be extremely rewarding. It can be non sensical and it feel completely aligned.
And… investments can be very subtle and extremely draining—like a drip that you dismiss as “fine,” or I’ll be the bigger person. How about shifting the energy instead?
You didn’t come here for “fine.” Drips add up. So does that elated feeling you get with your new friend or music class, employee, fishing spot, business idea, or coffee shop,…. Notice it. Follow it. Say yes to yourself. Money flows to those places. Love flows to those places. Your dreams grow bigger in those places. Your creativity and efficiency grows in those places.
And the life that loves you back grows in those places.
These are the nuances where phenomenal relationships, businesses, wellbeing, self connection and wealth are shaped and received.
Play with This:
Take a tolerance inventory of your life.
As you know, awareness is half the shift. Make a big list from leaky faucets, to your boss’s lack of integrity, to the money issue, to your weight, to taxes, to your spouse’s annoying habit, to that flatness or anxiety you’ve been telling yourself is “fine.”
Second, make a note beside each one what you feel with it.
Third, choose an action. It could be a perspective shift that simply decides to see it differently. Notice if you can hold it or if you need to go deeper. An energetic pattern shift/clearing for complete freedom, or a physical action for change (or all of the above.)
For example, your teenager leaving the peanut butter jar open on the counter, though you’ve told them many times to put it away, may be an annoyance. But as you think about it, the joy of the relationship you have with them and the awareness they will likely move on soon and all that they do well, is all you need to shift it.
Their idiosyncrasies are not a tolerance then, but part of the quirkiness you love and actually makes you chuckle with joy and gratitude when you think about it.
Another example: If you find your avoiding something or someone, what can you shift in yourself energetically that gives you clarity on a new action? Such as tapping to shift the avoidance/feelings and see where it leads you. So that instead of investing in avoidance (strain) you get to invest in…. you fill in the blank.
What is your kindness and patience (tolerating) providing? Seeing someone you love supported through something in their life? An employee who raises their performance level? A growth curve within yourself? Taking a relationship from healthy to rich? Finding the answers you’re looking for? Restoring your wellbeing? Those all get translated into investments that feed your life.
Or are you avoiding firing an employee who is no longer expanding with you? Ignoring the flatness inside and settling for less than joy? Feeling distant from money and not realizing it? Thinking it couldn’t be THAT that is affecting you?
You see? Have fun with this and what it feels like to redirect your energy to your true desires that compound into a life that loves you back … in overflow.
